What is it?
Semaglutide is in a class of medications called incretin mimetics. It works by helping the pancreas to release the right amount of insulin when blood sugar levels are high.
Semaglutide injection also works by slowing the movement of food through the stomach. It may decrease appetite and cause weight loss.
Semaglutide is used along with a personalized diet and exercise program to help with weight loss in obese or overweight adults.
How is it given?
Semaglutide injection comes as a solution (liquid) to inject under the skin (SQ). It is usually injected once a week without regard to meals. Take Semaglutide on the same day each week, at any time of day.
What are common side effects?
Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, abdominal pain, and constipation. Contact your Doctor if symptoms persist or are severe.
